Gameplay & Card Battle System

Town of Sins plays like a card battle RPG with a heavy dose of strategy. You build a deck of girls and items, take on opponents district by district, and win by out-thinking the enemy as much as by out-powering it. Here is how the whole machine works.

A battle system built on cards

Battles in Town of Sins are turn-based affairs played out with cards, each card representing a character or an item. Your army is made of twenty or more cards, and the goal is simple to state and tricky to master: defeat the opponent's commander before they defeat yours. Every card brings its own skills into the fight, and how you order your hand, when you play your strongest cards and which combos you have prepared decides who walks away the winner.

The recommended deck size is twenty cards, though you can field more. Balance matters more than raw numbers: a deck full of heavy hitters will lose to a cleverer mix of attackers, defenders and support cards. Learning each card's skills — and, more importantly, how those skills work together — is the heart of the game.

Four card types

The collection is organised into four card types, and understanding the difference between them is the first step to building a working deck.

  • Characters — girls of every occupation and temperament, in five rarities: common, rare, epic, legendary and mythic. They are your attackers and your stars.
  • Items — objects that pair with character cards. Keeping a balanced number of characters and items in your deck is the recommended way to play.
  • Residents — the girls of specific neighbourhoods. They carry more health and unique defensive skills, which makes them ideal for holding the line, but they cannot be combined with items.
  • Combos — the fusion of a character and an item, investigated in the Workshop. Combos are the real power plays of Town of Sins.

Skills that change the fight

Each card carries skills that can flip a battle on its head. Knowing what they do — and what blocks them — is what separates casual players from Arena regulars. A few examples from the game's roster of effects:

  • Aphrodisiac — weakens the effect of an opposing card that relies on its Fuck and Condom skills.
  • Butt Plug — damages a random enemy card before its turn, unless blocked by Condom or Bodyguard.
  • Fuck — blocks damage taken during an attack, though not special effects like Bomb, Drink, Butt Plug or Syphilis.
  • Drink — deals counter damage to the card that attacked you; only Condom can block it.
  • Strap-on — lowers the attack of a random enemy card for one turn.
  • Syphilis — infects an enemy card so it loses health each turn unless the target is protected.

Because skills interact with one another, the same deck can play completely differently depending on the opponent. Building around skills rather than around raw attack values is the fastest way to improve.

More than battles: the game modes

Town of Sins is not only about fighting. The Adventure mode carries the main storyline: you work through the districts of the town, defeat the local opposition and earn new Resident cards with unique skills. The Arena is where you test your deck against other players in weekly seasons, winning Bucks that fund fusions and combo research. The Workshop is where you investigate new combos, and events add limited-time campaigns with exclusive epic, legendary and mythic cards.

There is more on top of that. The Crusade is a daily activity for Combo Upgrade Stones where card health carries over between battles. The Butt Pass is a seasonal track of daily tasks with rewards along the way. And Seduction seasons hand out Reskin cards — undressed versions of existing girls that fight with fifty percent more attack and health. In other words: there is always something to do in the town.

Combos: where the real power lives

Combos are the signature mechanic of Town of Sins. When you pair a character card with a compatible item card, the two can be fused in the Workshop into a combo that is considerably stronger than either card alone. Every girl has at least five secret combo strikes, and unlocking them all is one of the most satisfying long-term goals in the game. Combo upgrades cost resources earned in the daily Crusade, and the strongest combos can turn a mediocre deck into a champion.

Experiment freely. The Workshop allows you to investigate several combinations at once — extra slots can be purchased — and the game rewards players who think big. Find the combos that suit your favourite girls, upgrade them steadily, and take the result into the Arena.
